Give Yourself to Love (Kate Wolf video)

I don't spend a lot of time watching youtube, but every once in a while you think of someone to look for. So I found a small (4-minute) clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwUwJgRBMcw of the wonderful California folksinger Kate Wolf (1942-1986), doing "Give Yourself to Love", buried in an overlong long TV program from Santa Barbara. The interviewer talks with a kind-of-but-not-professed Buddhist American woman with a good color sense (including shades of violet, rose, lavender and silver -- on her and the set). KW comes in at about minute 41 of 58. Load up the buffer then fast forward. Or watch the whole thing if you're in a lavender and tranquil mood, or would like to be. There's a too short tribute video to KW near the front, but then lots and lots of talk and roses... Kate Wolf looks more like a Judith than a Kate, but it's that great voice -- strong yet gentle, a pure folk style, with subtle nuances. It's good to see her live, and to see the group, with nice mandolin and lead guitar work.

Thank you Jane for sharing the music.
It's a really sweet "feel good" song. And, you're spot on about her name.
I watched the entire Byron Katie interview, I have a couple of her books (have is not the same as have read). I had never seen her speak before and I found her to appear a little numb and removed. I'm not sure why the host kept giggling and then allowed her to get out of answering his important logical questions. Discernment is a useful thing to consider after all.

Hey there! I just watched another episode of Allan's show, this time with a Native American woman who was a little more connected wiyth life and the earth than Byron Katie, whom I also found bemusingly detached and vague. This one is better, but again the Kate Wolf stuff is sparse. When we got to a second song I managed to kill the video by mistake, because it was in google video not youtube, Oh well, no matter -- anyone can Google KW.
What do you mean about her name? I don't get it. I too watched Byron Katie all the way through, more or less paying attention, but I didn't want to admit it. I kept thinking of beautiful women "of a certain age [or older]" and wishing I were watching Judi Dench. JD's just as lovely, all around, and color-wise, but she has a lot of SUBSTANCE! And she had such a dishy husband, a real cutie. But I digress....
Oh yeah, I kept yelling inwardly at "Allan," the interviewer, to ask BK, "But what about dog poop? If you slipped and fell in some dog poop, wouldn't you say 'Oh, shit' or the like?" Wouldn't that minor but really annoying occurrence upset BK's cool? I was frustrated that he never asked that kind of thing. He was bewitched, I suppose....

I think I should have said you were right about her appearance.
She does look more like a Judith than a Kate.
And on BK which also stands for Burger King. . .
I can't help but think that negating desire for the purpose of ending pain is also an obliteration of will and self. And why doesn't she apply her questions to pain? "Is it true pain and sorrow are not necessary to the human experience?" "Can we know it's true?"
I know, I'm obsessing.
